Rabbit polyclonal to CDH1.Cadherin-1 (CDH1) is a single-pass membrane protein. Cadherins are calcium-dependent celladhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connectingcells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. CDH1 is involved inmechanisms regulating cell-cell adhesions, mobility and proliferation of epithelial cells. It has a potentinvasive suppressor role. It is a ligand for integrin alpha-E/beta-7. Defects in CDH1 are the cause ofhereditary diffuse gastric cancer (HDGC) and are a cause of susceptibility to endometrial cancer(ENDMC) and ovarian cancer (OC).
