Resolvin D1 (RvD1) is produced physiologically from the sequential oxygenation of DHA by 15- and 5-lipoxygenases.{13989} The 17(R)-epimer of RvD1 can also be generated with aspirin-treatment.{11433} Both RvD1 and its 17(R) configuration reduce human polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMNL) transendothelial migration, the earliest event in acute inflammation. RvD1 exhibits antihyperalgesic effects in a rat model of adjuvant-induced arthritis and prevents and inhibits the TRP channels, TRPA1, TRPV3, and TRPV4,{20276,20277,20290} producing anti-nociceptive effects. Resolvins also specifically interact with human phagocytes via the ALX and GPR32 receptors and have been shown to improve insulin sensitivity in leptin receptor-deficient (db/db) mice, possibly related to the reduction of pro-inflammatory macrophages found in adipose tissues.{20279,20278} Cayman's Resolvin D1 ELISA Kit is a competitive assay that can be used for quantification of RvD1. Due to the number and variation of potential sample types, this assay has been validated in Cayman's ELISA Buffer (Item No. 400060) diluted to 1X (0.1 M potassium phosphate containing 0.1% BSA, 0.1% sodium chloride, 1 mM EDTA, and 0.01% sodium azide) and DMEM containing phenol red and 10% FBS. This assay has a range from 3.3-2,000 pg/ml and a sensitivity (80% B/B0) of approximately 15 pg/ml.
