The SW 872 cell line was initiated by A. Leibovitz in 1974 at the Scott and White Clinic, Temple, Texas from a surgical specimen of a fibrosarcoma removed from a 36 year old male Caucasian. The histopathology evaluation reported an undifferentiated malignant tumor consistent with liposarcoma.
